My name is Alkis, but I reckon you already guessed that. I
was born in Chania, Crete Island, Greece in 1975. I was
really into computers at a young age. Well, 11 years old
doesn't sound so young for someone to learn how to use a
computer today, but trust me it was back in 1986 when my
parents bought me a ZX Spectrum + (48 Kilobytes of RAM,
believe it or not). In 1987 I got an Amiga 500, and in 1993
an Amiga 1200 which I still use almost daily. It was only in
1997 that I reluctantly purchased my first PC, a Pentium
200MHz MMX. Programming fascinated me right from the start,
and so did computer games which I proudly still play
religiously and will continue to do so until arthritis gets
the best of me. I'm more into retro gaming than modern
titles, but I do play new adventure games as well as the odd
racing game now and then.
I have created a handful of games, some of which are still
available. The best ones are
Other Worlds, a simple looking
yet quite deep freeware adventure game and
Diamonds in the Rough, a commercial adventure game.
Although Atropos Studios, the company behind
it is no more, I still have some copies left which are being
sold on E-Bay at a low price for whoever is interested. On
retro computer systems, I also made Super Hangman
(self explanatory) and Flipper (a foosball simulator)
for the ZX Spectrum + as well as Cornelius saves Christmas, a fun little platform game
for the Commodore Amiga.
I regularly participate in tournaments of the
Kick
Off Association, in which we play Kick Off 2 against
each other, a 1990 Amiga football title which is my all time
favorite computer game. We even host an annual
world cup.
I studied Electrical Engineering at the University of Patras,
where I specialized in Telecommunications & IT. I am
employed as the Editing Manager of a scientific organization
and I've been happily married to Roula since December 2006.
We live in Athens. If you happen to know me personally, you
